Standings are affected by the winner advances a position and the loser go down a placing.  A draw results in no movement.

You can play anybody on the ladder.  Games can be played at the club, a shop, home or school.  Just make sure you register your results.  You can play whatever army and whatever size game you like as long as you notify the challenger in advance so they know what they are likely to be facing.  People who play more often will naturally advance quicker than those who play less.
